Niti Aayog, the planning body lead by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will release a new report called Transformative Mobility Solutions for India. In a draft that made available, plans can be seen to prioritize electric vehicles over hybrids.

The plan is met by resistance from ar manufacturers to get onboard because of high battery costs and a lack of charging stations. To electrify all vehicles in India by 2032, the report lays out measures to lower taxes for electric vehicles, introduce interest rates on loans for purchases of electric cars, and electricity tariffs for fleet operators. Battery and charging infrastructure development will be ramped up to meet industry expectations.
