Realizing the importance of the global movement towards low-carbon economy, Jamaica is looking to attract investments in renewable energy projects worth $300 million. The country however, is counting on the Green Climate Fund to receive project funding in order to meet 20% of its energy demand from clean energy sources by 2030. In spite of a slow growth in the renewable energies area, Jamaica is now on its way to catch up with the rest of world and the commissioning of the 20- megawatt project last year is an important step in the process.
