Japan’s $5 Million aid for Rakhine’s Food Assistance

Japan’s aid of $5 million from the Government of Japan in support of the Food Assistance programs has been welcomed by The UN World Food Programme (WFP). “We are very grateful for the contribution from the Government of Japan and their continued support,” said Country Director and Resident Representative, Dom Scalpelli. “In a time of increased needs in Rakhine State, the Government of Japan has once again shown great generosity.”, he further added. This donation will provide food assistance to 291,000 food-insecure communities in the central and northern parts of Rakhine State, where livelihood of the locals have been disrupted because of outbreaks of violence recently.
