Kansas City’s Smart City initiative received the Edison Award in the Connected Collaboration category during this year’s annual international competition. Stating that Kansas City has “the most extensive coordinated suite of connective Wi-Fi technology and analytical platforms in the world to enhance the citizens’ experience and improve delivery of city services,” the organization applauds the 51 blocks of free public Wi-Fi, interactive digital kiosks, and smart streetlights and sensors that provide real-time data.
The Smart City initiative is a collaboration between the city, Cisco, Sprint Corp., and Think Big Partners.
