Texas’ governor Greg Abbott signed a bill into law officially allowing the testing of self-driving vehicles. In fact, the matter has been practiced for awhile and self-driving vehicles have been on the road for testing, but there has neither been a law banning nor allowing it. The legal framework for testing is quite lenient, as critics comment for there is no clear requirement that a human operator should be inside, and the few requirements in place demand a record of the testing and a liability of the manufacturer.
