According to recent reports, Lyft has intentions to open its very own self-driving car division in the form of a technology development center in Palo Alto, California.
“We are putting down the accelerator significantly on investment on this,” commented Raj Kapoor, chief strategy officer for Lyft, at the time of the announcement.
Lyft is planning to share data from the center with other companies joining the collaboration. Interestingly, Lyft does not have a permit to test autonomous cars in California, according to the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
