Image source: Shutterstock (#116229136)A team at Carnegie Mellon University has developed a device that plugs into any electrical outlet to connect all appliances in your home. Called Synthetic Sensors, it captures a wide variety of environmental data to transform virtually any household object into a smart device.
As Synthetic Sensors detect various inputs at the same time, the researchers hope that the technology could just be added to systems such as Google Home or Alexa, making them more knowledgeable without making them more intrusive.
