MIT developed sensors that can be attached to vehicles that drive regularly at night, such as garbage trucks. These sensors collect information on the location of street lamps, hight of street lamps and illumination levels. The information is gathered in a map and based on this data can be used by the city to maintain the street light system in a more efficient way.
