CleanStat, an initiative by the Clean Streets LA (CSLA) program is keeping Los Angeles streets clean by monitoring the cleanliness of all the blocks with mapping technology. Los Angeles Sanitation uses the data collected by CleanStat to use its personnel more efficiently. The amounts of loose litter, bulky items, unwanted weeds and illegal dumping are recorded and then color coded a map to be used by the employees. There are now 82 percent fewer dirty streets than when the initiative first started. Collected data is also accessible for the public through GeoHub.
