Mars, owner of brands such as Snickers, Twix, Milky Way, and Skittles, is going to invest $1 billion in a campaign to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its operations by 67 percent by 2050. The company also intends to run a poverty reduction and sustainability program for farmers and suppliers, and improve food safety and security measures.

“If we are to help deliver on the targets agreed in Paris and the UN sustainable development goals, there has to be a huge step change. While many companies have been working on being more sustainable, the current level of progress is nowhere near enough,” Mars CEO Grant Reid said.

From now on, wind turbines and other renewable energy images will be featured in advertisement of the brands of the company as well.
