Marubeni and JinkoSolar have started the construction of Middle East’s largest solar project. Located in Abu Dhabi, this 1.17 GW solar power is one of the cheapest solar power plant in the world at record-low tariff of 2.94¢/kWh. With Marubeni and Jinko Solar providing 20% equity for funding the project, Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) will arrange for debt funding. The project is scheduled to be commissioned in 2019 and will be the largest solar power plant in the world beating Shams 1, already operational in Abu Dhabi.
