Mercedes-Benz has begun the construction of a new €500 million engine production plant in Jawor, Poland, the second for the company outside of Germany. Mercedez will use the site to build four-cylinder engines for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, and create about 500 jobs this way.
Combining the latest sector standards with Industry 4.0, the plant will act as a benchmark for engine production. Mercedez will also capitalize on the potential of digitalization and use apps for personnel and energy management.
When the plant goes operational in 2019, the company also wants to develop solutions for CO2-neutral engine production there.
