In 2014 health organizations and ministers across America agreed on a Plan of Action for the Prevention of Obesity of Children and Adolescents to fight obesity which is a severe problem especially in Mexico. A year ago the Mexican government implemented a tax on sugary drinks. At that time an estimated number of 66 people died every day due to drinking sugary drinks. One year after implementing a tax of 10 percent the sale of sugary drinks decreased by 12 percent in Mexico. It took one year of lobbying to implement this measure that is unique in America so far.
