Microsoft is launching an IoT based enterprise service called IoT Central. This service will help the organizations by setting up their IoT systems without having to develop a cloud-based IoT solution from the ground up. IoT Central falls into the category of IoT-as-a-Service. Along with IoT Central, the company is also planning to bring its Azure Stream Analytics to edge devies. According to Microsoft’s IoT director, “While we find that IoT is a big differentiator, one of the things we’re finding in the broader market is that there is still a broad set of skill sets needed to implement IoT solutions. Customers here don’t need any cloud solutions expertise.” Microsoft believes that as the IoT technology will progress, a large chunk of intelligence will get pushed out to the edge — and stream analytics proves to be the first effort of Microsoft in this area.
