Within the scope of MIT’s five-year Plan for Action on Climate Change, the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) has initiated Mobility of the Future, a 3-year study on how citizens and markets will adapt and respond to novel technologies, business models, and policies connected the mobility.
With ground transportation being the main focus, areas to be explored include hybrid-electric vehicles, all-electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, and the consequences the different new kinds of fuel have. Among a plethora of other things, business models such as ride hailing or car sharing will be thoroughly examined, as will the attitude of consumers towards car ownership and usage.
