Mongolia suffers from desertification, extreme weather and overburdened pastures. The climate change threatens livelihoods. Due to missing national regulations on pasture land management – which makes it difficult to address the environmental issues on a national level – Mongolian herders have started working together to manage pasture and mitigate the effects of land degradation and climate change. That is why the herders decide on and implement their own regulations in order to reduce their impact on the environment.
