A new study by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration found the methan amount emitted by fossil fuel productions is between 20 and 60 percent higher than estimated. It is a lot more potent as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Methane that leaks from gas operations would even erase the climate benefits of reducing coal.
