According to the World Bank’s 2016 World Development Report on the Internet “Digital Dividends”, more people had access to mobile phones than to electricity and water. In many instances, digital technologies have boosted growth, expanded opportunities, and improved service delivery. However, their impact has fallen short and is unevenly distributed. Greater efforts must be made to connect more people to the Internet and create an environment where everyone profits from the digital technologies.
