In Sydney’s Darling Harbour, experts at Australia’s inaugural conference on reducing plastic pollution in Asia Pacific (Beyond Plastic Pollution) have shared a number of possible solutions for the environmental challenge of plastic litter.
Among the ways to solve the problem was encouraging consumers to purchase recycled products. Another way is the use of plastic as a affordable, strong, and versatile building material, for example to construct roads. In Indonesia, so-called Waste Banks are facilities where communities can earn money for depositing their plastic waste.
The event was organized by advocacy group Boomerang Alliance.
