The Governance Lab at New York University is launching the CrowdLaw Research Initiative and website. CrowdLaw is when local legislatures and national parliaments use the Internet to involve the public, making lawmaking more open and participatory. The initiative is aimed at understanding the impact of technologies on the future of lawmaking.

The website includes an analysis of CrowdLaw, studies of examples in the world, where it is already employed, a Twitter list of leading thinkers on the topic, and more. With CrowdLaw, new sources of expertise and opinion find their way into legislatures, and lawmakers are easier to hold accountable.
