After the Finnish company has been sold to Microsoft in 2013, Nokia will return to the smartphone market in the coming year. Former employees of Nokia teamed up and established the company HMD Global. They received a licensing deal with Microsoft to use the brand name for tablets and smartphones for a 10-years period. It can be assumed that the strong competition in the smartphone market will not make it easy for Nokia to break through.
