The city of Lillestrøm has built a new bicycle hotel near the main square of the train station. The hotel provides a space where riders can leave their bike. The project is commissioned by the Norwegian National Railways and offers over 5,000 square feet of bike storage. The bicycle hotel is supposed to make cycling easier for people commuting around the city. The hotel in Lillestrøm offers a public green rooftop with sloping ramps, stairs and benches. It connects directly to the train station’s main square. Green sedum on the roof absorbs rainwater and provides insulation from external temperatures. The building is made of glass walls that draw in daylight. The structure is ventilated naturally and the energy consumption low.
