The European Environment Agency released a report which finds that Italy has the highest number of annual deaths from nitrogen dioxide (NO2), the second one is the UK. NO2 is a toxic gas mostly caused by diesel vehicles and linked to lung problems. Marylebone Road in London is the worst hotspot in Europe concerning NO2 pollution. In Italy the high pollution is related to industrial sources, in the UK it is mainly caused by cars. The total number of NO2 related death is decreasing in both countries as well as across Europe, but the number is still too high.
