New York City is expanding its curbside e-recycling program that started out as a pilot in four boroughs in 2016. 400,000 pounds of electronic waste were recycled that would have otherwise ended up in landfills. In terms of NYC’s zero waste goals, Mayor de Blasio declared that recycling as much as possible, especially electronics, must be aspired, but it should be facilitated for residents to do so. To sustainably reuse electronics, future proposals intend a nearby- recycling at local participating retailers.
