Palm Beach County in Florida has multiple major problems with its transportation system. Officials now partnered up with a company known for improving big cities’ public transportation. Jarrett Walker and Associates, a public transit consultancy, has already worked with Houston and Columbus before, improving their systems significantly.
“We have way too many bus stops,” says Khaled Shammout, director of transit planning at Palm Tran, Palm Beach County’s bus department. “The more that [buses] have to stop, the slower they go, the more fuel consumption they have.”
As populations continue to grow, more cities might take up services such as this.
