Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project now at full power

Vattenfall announced that the 76 turbine Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project is now operating at full power, providing clean energy that amounts to a reduction of carbon emissions of 300,000 tons. The £400m project, which is operated by just 20 employees, is now the largest onshore wind farm in Wales.

Financial support for onshore wind parks was blocked in 2015 when the Conservative Party stopped allowing onshore farms to compete for energy price support contracts. Companies are now calling on the government to pull back on that decision, arguing onshore wind is the most inexpensive form of energy technology, and can help build new capacity.
