At the National Summit on Design and Urban Mobility, Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto has propagated the formation of guidelines for good “corporate citizenship” for the self-driving car companies. With Uber and Ford testing in Pittsburgh, several issues worth considering are noticable.

According to Peduto, companies should give something to communities in return for letting them use their streets. He suggested helping the cities with the sharing of data, facilitating a competitive and open market, or using the self-driving cars to support public transit in the host cities. A road map to more ethical practices in policy around self-driving vehicles is urgently needed, Peduto indicates.
