After initial success in Munich, Germany, Mercedes is expanding to other cities in the country with their peer-to-peer carsharing model Croove. With the system, private owners rent their vehicles to other Croove users through a smartphone app. Just tell the system where you are and where you want to travel, and it will connect you with users closeby. Prices can be bargained, but Croove can also just calculate a fair amount.
Tesla has hinted at development of a similar network. With self-driving cars with digital keys on the horizon, you will not even have to bring the car back yourself.
