“Project Sunroof” is a website that uses Google Earth’s high-resolution aerial images to calculate any roof’s solar energy potential. The project is supposed to help houseowners decide whether it is reasonable to install solar panels on their roof. This could either save the houseowners money or it can speed up the process of installing solar panels. People that are interested in installing solar panels can go to the website, enter their adress and get the information about how many hours of usable sunlight their roof receives. At the moment the Project Sunroof operates only in the US but it has the potential to go global one day.
