Qatar wants to set up 1,800 megawatts of solar power capacity by 2020. As a first step, a 200 megawatt project is to be realized by Siraj Power, a cooperation betweeen Qatar Electricity and Water Company and Qatar Petroleum. Work on the largest undertaking in solar energy in Qatar to date will start in June this year.
