The pressure to decrease the pollution is prevelant in almost every country round the globe and this has prompted the authorities to introduce and implement several strategies such as Clean Air Zones and Low Emission Zones etc. but nothing concrete has come up yet. In the UK however a new non intrusive way of measuring the pollutants and identifying the vehicles has been launched recently. Ricardo Energy and Environment in collaboration with OPUS Inspection has launched a real world vehicle emissions monitoring service which can be installed at the locations of interest and it measures the pollutants ranging from NOxparticulate matter, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and ammonia etc. from each passing vehicle and this data can be used to identify the most polluting vehicle types and much more.
