To match the natural beauty of Flat Holm island between England and Wales, Cardiff Council Flat is trading in a diesel generator, which had been the only source of electricity for the island for ages, for the Rapid Roll Solar PV system developed by Renovagen, a UK startup.
The system can be unrolled like a carpet, and just start working. Just one panel provides 11 kilowatts in two minutes, and they are easier to transport than traditional solar panels as well. “Compared with traditional rigid panels, we can fit up to 10 times the power in this size container,” founder John Hingley says.
