UK supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is backpedaling on their ambitious goal of reducing household food waste by half until 2021.

After their trial run in a small market town, where they introduced food-sharing apps and smart fridges, they realized that behavioral change in customers is not as easily achieved as predicted.

Their Waste Less, Save More program is now scaled back considerably, and taken nationwide to inspire small changes within more communities and make progress this way.
