Samsung Electronics Co. has received the necessary permits from the authorities in South Korea to test its autonomous driving vehicle equipped with Samsung’s own electronic parts and software. This marks the entry of another tech giant in an already competitive market. According to the land ministry, Samsung’s car is a modified version of another carmaker’s vehicle equipped with Samsung’s own components such as cameras and AI software etc. Samsung sees the autonomous driving industry as a new growth driver. However, Samsung said that, “We would like to clarify that the company has no plan to enter the car manufacturing business,” and the company aims to work on the development of “deep learning algorithms for autonomous operations.”
