Sensing sking that detects cracks and harmful substances

Researchers at North Carolina State University (NC State) developed a skin that is able to spot structural flaws on a surface. The skin which consists of three layers can be directly painted on the surface of an object or pre-assembled and attached to it in retrospect. The skin sends data to a computer which assess whether there are any anomalies.
