On its non-stop San Francisco- Singapore route, the Singapore Airlines (SIA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) have launched a series of 12 green package flight over the period of next three months. The flights will be the first to combine the use of biofuels, Airbus A350-900 and optimized flight operations. The maiden flight landed in Singapore on May 2, 2017 with 206 passengers onboard. The biofuel was produced by AltAir Fuels, will be delivered to San Francisco by SkyNRG in collaboration with North American Fuel Corporation (NAFCO). The flights will employ the User-Preferred Routes (UPRs) and are an initiative of the efforts under the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint (SSB) 2015.
