Access to clean public drinking water is a constitutional right in Slovenia now which is known for its good water quality. In parliament 64 votes were in favour and none against adding the article to the constitution. Water resources are a public good that is managed by the state. They are primary and durably used to supply citizens with potable water and households with water so it is not a market commodity, the amendment notes. Slovenia is the first country in the European Union and among 15 other countries worldwide that includes the right to water in their constitution.
