Smart pen detects cancer in 10 seconds

Researchers from the University of Texas at Austin have developed a device that is capable of identifying cancer cells in mere seconds. Called the MasSpec Pen, it thus works 150 times faster than established conventional technologies and is 96 percent accurate.

It will be used to aid surgeons to remove tumors in their entirety to lower the number of repeat surgeries, and also to only cut the tissue that is needed to be cut during procedures.
