Deep learning algorithms have been applied to identify crop disease before it spreads. A reasearch team of the Pennsylvania State University and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne developed a program that can be packed into a simple smartphone. Based on more than 50,000 images of plant disease it detects 26 different diseases in 14 different plant species.
