Social inclusion as a precondition for a smart city

On Decemeber 3 is the International Day of People with Disabilities which was introduced to increase public awareness for the discriminations of any sort that impaired people are facing. The focus this year will be on barriers associated with information and communications technology (ICT), attitudes and others. In order to be a smart city, infrastructure and society have to be physically, financially and socially inclusive. Projects and intitiatives throughout Europe exemplify the need to improve social integration of disabled people and elderly  in urban space.
