Sorting and separating waste could soon be a thing of the past thanks to a ‘smart bin’ developed by the start-up company Bin.E. The bin recognizes different types of waste via a system positioned inside the bin which uses sensors, image recognition and artificial intelligence. The new invention is trialed in Poland and could be on the market in a few years. As city councils in the UK are increasingly trying to change people’s recycling behaviour by more frequently collecting reycling bins and less often coming to collect the regular waste bins, the ‘smart bin’ could be a real asset for environmental behaviour.
