The publishing of a new report from the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) coincides with the high court ruling on the air quality plan of the government. Every year high air pollution levels are the source for 9,500 early deaths in UK’s capital. The report provides not only an alarming outline of the state of air quality in London, but also shows how the problem can be addressed with a comprehensive plan: improvements of public transport, cycling and walking and charges on diesel cars are among the central components.
