Study: EU countries are not prepared for smart buildings

According to a study published by the think tank “Buildings Performance Institute Europe” (BPIE) today, the countries in the European Union are not prepared for new technologies that make buildings smarter and more efficient. EU countries  are not prepared to take advantage of the benefits smart building technologies offer. The study finds that most EU countries only show little progress in developing market solutions, but better EU legislation could solve the problem and encourage the countries to roll-out smart infrastructures. Moreover, the EU could implement “smartness indicators” on energy performance certificates to highlight the green capabilities of buildings.
