Envision Energy, the renewable energy asset management technology expert has launched a new alliance with Microsoft, Accenture, ARM and others to support integration of renewables and Internet of Things technologies. It announced its Energy of Things (IoT) and Smart City Technology Alliance last week with the aim to “unify the distributed and fragmented renewable energy space” and help integrate a range of different technologies that integrate with renewable generation systems. The vision of the alliance is that its members are forerunners in the energy transition, also by connecting to more efficient networks integrating buildings, industry parks, vehicles, power generation plants, electric distribution, storages and end-user consumptions that help make cities ‘smart’. The group proclaimed it would “help deliver an increase in smart grid R&D and industry standardisation that would aid the deployment of smart city technologies”.
