Tesla CEO Elon Musk and President Jon McNeill said they planned to expand the new Tesla insurance program which goes along with the progress in Tesla’s self-driving technology and development. The autonomous car technology is supposed to reduce the accident rate and as a consequence lower the insurance rates. In Asia, where the program initially started, Tesla cars are sold with an insurance that is tailored to the Tesla car. Tesla’s future vision is being able to offer a certain price for a car that includes the insurance. Entering the insurance business will come about in partnership with established insurers.
