Tesla hosts its biggest battery farm in California

40 miles from Los Angeles in Ontario, California, Tesla has installed 400 white industrial boxes packed into 1,5 acres of land which contain thousands of battery cells. These are the same ones used in Tesla’s electric cars made by the Gigafactory in Nevada. It is the biggest battery farm Tesla has built for a power company. Southern California Edison will use the battery farm which has been in operation since December. It is one of the biggest energy storages in the world. The cells have a capacity of 20 megawatts and the storage is designed to contain enough batteries to run about 1000 Tesla cars which is equivalent to the supply of 15,000 homes for four hours. The project is important for Tesla’s strategy to expand beyond the electric car business.
