Motor Trend tested the Tesla Model S 2017 P100D and managed to launch the car from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 2,2755 seconds which puts its ahead of a Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 911 Turbo S. The Tesla is so fast because of its electric motors and the 100 kWh lithium-ion battery. The front wheels are driven by 259 hp and a 277 lb-ft of torque while the rear wheels are driven by 503 hp and a 525 lb-ft motor. Tesla’s launch control mode is cooling down the motor via air conditioning and slightly heating the batteries between every run to ensure the optimum acceleration.
