Tesla Inc will shut down the production at its California assembly plant for a week this month in order to get prepared for the production of the Model 3 sedan so that the production can start in July and enables the ramp-up towards 500,000 vehicles annually in 2018. The pause helps the company to add capacity to the existing paint shop to prepare it for the new Model 3. The pause is not expected to have a material impact on the first-quarter production or delivery figures.
