The CEO of SunTegra, Oliver Koehler sees the Sun Roof of Tesla as a new approach to start off the PV mass market. Tesla has worked heavily on the design of its PV shindles, allowing its Solar Roof to intergrate into homes by its tailor-made design. As future solar customers want a low-profile, more integrated solution that blends in with their home the new design could herald the start of a new era on the residential solar market. Yet, the lauded solar tile roof is not on the market yet and it is projected, that this might still take several years of development until feasible. Nevertheless, Tesla wants to fill a gap by trying to establish a residential solar mass market.
