At the moment the global community is facing a lot of challenges that can only be jointly managed through cooperation between countries. Challenges are the rapid population growth, climate change, environmental damage, violent conflict and extreme poverty, just to name a few. The lack of effective global governance leads to the escalation of global catastrophic risks. That is why effective ways of making collectively binding, long-term decisions are needed that consider the interests of everyone being effected and future generations.
The Global Challenges Foundation awards a 5 million USD prize that aims at finding models or framerworks for international cooperation effectively, adressing the mentioned challenges.
Individuals, groups, universities, companies and associations from all over the world can take part and compete for the prize.
A panel of academic experts and a high-level international jury will choose the winners.
